The first G-Shock watch was made in the 1983 Casio DW-5000C designed by an engineer working for Casio named Kikuo Ibe. Casio G Shock was created to make a watch that has a 10-year battery life, water resistant to 10 bar, and can survive a fall of 10 meters. Its shock resistant design has 10 layers of protective innards protecting the quartz time mechanism.
